SIDER : Solutions for laboratory results distribution
The Agence de la santé et des services sociaux of Lanaudière (ASSS of Lanaudière) had to be able to distribute its laboratory results to the regional Family Medecine Groups (FMG).
In association with the Agence, Matricis developed a solution that allows the various regional GMF's EMR (Electronic Medical Record) to update their laboratory results at a regular frequency, with the use of a web service secured by a x.509 certificate.
The architecture of this solution is based on interoperability standards and thus enables EMR to be integrated easily to the solution developed. This interoperability is represented by two laboratory systems, namely GFI Solutions d'affaires' SoftLab and MédiSolution's MédiLab, which transmit their results to all clinics equiped with an EMR, such as Kinlogix Médecin or Toubib, via the consumption of a secure Web service. Therefore, doctors working in these clinics can view lab results within the software they use to manage their patients' records.
For the doctors working in clinics not equipped with EMR, the results are available on a secure Web portal. In that case, doctors can access their patients' laboratory results from the clinic or from home, through a simple Web browser. In addition, a web dashboard is available for laboratory managers to facilitate the results' transmission monitoring process.
More specifically, the Agence wanted to be accompanied by a firm specializing in BizTalk technologies and with a great expertise in application integration. The support was performed during all phases of the project, throughout the analysis, the BizTalk architecture design, the installation, the configuration, the development of HL7 interfaces, the implementation, the deployment, the documentation and the testing.
SIDER is presently implemented or soon will be a variety of regions in Quebec, such as :
